"This painting was painted from my imagination. I was born in Ontario in a location that usually endures 6 months of winter. As a child, I grew up on skates and there was always a rink somewhere on every street. We spent hours and hours skating and playing hockey, after school and well into the evenings during the winter. While mapping out this image, the idea came to me to paint the rink red, and so I did. I was very happy with the red "rink"." Being a self-taught artist, Brian Simons derived much his inspiration from the "GROUP OF SEVEN", the French Impressionists and the Writings of Baha'u'lla'h (Baha'i Faith). He moved to Vancouver Island from Alberta, 35 years ago and focused mostly on drawing and sketching. Brian began showing his work in 1988 and is represented by numerous galleries on Vancouver Island. He has done numerous commissions for a television production companies and architects, and has had corporate and private sales both in Canada and the United States.
